When I was growing up in the Pentecostal Church, there was always a point within the service were some of the members would “shout” or “get happy.” This occurred many times after the choir had a selection that had people running up and down the aisles and between the pews. Now if this lasted too long, the minister in charge would start singing a song…”Yes, Yes Lord.” The congregation would begin settling down while the ushers were fanning a Mother from the Mother’s Board and everyone began to chime in with the minister. Soon the members were back in place to continue service.
As a child and young adult I equated the “Yes” song to the time to quite down signal.
Thankfully I got older.
I now know that “Yes, Yes Lord” is a yielded man’s song. It’s a song that says “whatever your will Lord…Yes, whatever your way Lord…Yes, I say Yes to you.”
Not an easy thing to do while striving to be more Christ like. So it’s songs like the one you will see below that keeps me focused on my faith and the realization that my life is not my own and it’s to Christ I belong.
