Mother (noun) noun: A woman who conceives, gives birth to, or raises and nurtures a child. A woman who holds a position of authority or responsibility similar to that of a mother. A creative source; an origin. Used as a title for a woman respected for her wisdom and age.
Maternal love and tenderness.
The above is a definition of the word mother, but it doesn’t even come close to what a true mother can be. I have two women pictured above who have nurtured me as a son. The first is my natural mother Jean Carter a woman of great insight and wisdom. The second is my pastor, whom we call Lady Bishop. She has the presents of a Queen and is keen with discernment. Not pictured is my wife (see first post). I see her mother our daughter and the growth process in which her “mothering” is maturing.
Like the “Men of Valor” (see “Men of Valor” post) there are others who at one time or another filled a motherly role in my life, but it is the two mentioned above that have had the most impact in my life.
There are women who have children and there are mothers. The wisdom and discernment that comes with a mother is second to none. It’s strange how they know just when to give you that phone call or encouraging word, they know when something is wrong in your life, they won’t tell you they know, but they know. And yes they can be something to deal with when you have stepped over bounds and done something wrong. But most importantly they know how to pray and let God’s plan be worked in their children’s lives. I know that situations I have come out of is because of that very thing.
It is a blessing to have mothers that have imparted into our lives, I know some have went on to rest, but their teaching and wisdom live on. I’m thankful for the two mom’s in my life. I wish everyone could share in what I have…In some way or another big or small, I hope that you have.
